Miami: Over 200 International Galleries Arrive at Art Basel

Miami Beach will transform into the art capital of the world from December 1st to 7th for Art Week, featuring over 200 international galleries from nearly 50 countries participating in fairs and exhibitions along the beach.

“Art Week puts Miami Beach on the international map, offering an art experience that no other city in the world can match,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner in a statement.

During the first week of December, the city’s seven kilometers of beaches will be transformed into public art installations, unique exhibitions, and cultural events that will attract art lovers and curious tourists alike.

One of the main events will be Art Basel Miami Beach, which will host 283 international galleries from 43 countries and will be open to the public from December 5th to 7th at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“Art Basel Miami Beach is a prestigious and unparalleled event that revitalizes our city,” said Meiner.

Another major event will be No Vacancy, Miami Beach, a contemporary public art competition celebrating its sixth edition, showcasing the works of twelve artists in twelve of the city’s most iconic hotels until December 20.

The iconic Lincoln Road will also take center stage this week, hosting fourteen free public art installations, including Mr. Pink Takes Flight by Philippe Katerine, Dream Machine and Empower Flower by Rubem Robierb, and La Herencia Viva by Óscar Esteban Martínez.

The Betsy Hotel will feature special programs, such as a dance performance, a public art installation, and artist book presentations.

Further from Miami Beach, the Pinta Miami art fair, taking place from December 4 to 7 in Coconut Grove, specializes in Latin American art, while Art Miami, Miami’s oldest contemporary art fair, held from December 2 to 7 in the city center, will host numerous prestigious galleries.
