Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami officially announced the first three matches of its preseason, which will take place in South America and mark the start of an exciting international tour.
The MLS champions will face a demanding preparation with matches against Alianza Lima, Atlético Nacional, and Barcelona of Guayaquil, three clubs with history, titles, and significant presence in South American soccer.
The tour will begin in Lima, Peru, where Las Garzas will play for the second consecutive season. On Saturday, January 24, they will face Alianza Lima at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium. The Peruvian club is one of the most successful in its country, with 25 First Division titles, and represents a high-level test to kick off the preseason.
Then, the team will travel to Medellín, where on Saturday, January 31, they will face Atlético Nacional at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium. Atlético Nacional is the most decorated club in Colombia, with 18 domestic league titles and two Copa Libertadores trophies, among other international accolades.
The tour will conclude in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on Saturday, February 7, when Javier Mascherano’s team visits Barcelona SC at the Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha. This will be the first time the American club has faced an Ecuadorian opponent. Barcelona SC leads the domestic record books with 16 league titles.
With this tour, Inter Miami will not only look to fine-tune its tactics but also strengthen its connection with South American fans and test its mettle against teams accustomed to international competition. It will be the first step in an intense preseason leading up to a 2026 season that promises to see them back in the spotlight.
