Miami Beach Eases Restrictions for Spring Break Start

Miami Beach kicked off its first “high-impact” Spring Break weekend this Friday with much more permissive measures than in previous years. According to Telemundo 51, the city opted to keep beaches open and allow cafes to operate normally during this holiday period.

Despite the reopening, checkpoints remain in place at beach entrances on Ocean Drive, and parking fees range from US$40 to US$100. Additionally, police have implemented sobriety checkpoints and a special traffic plan, in effect since 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, to reduce traffic in the city’s southern residential areas.

What changes will there be for Spring Break in Miami Beach this year?

Barricades will be removed, cafes on Washington Avenue will remain open, and beaches will not close at 6:00 p.m.

High parking fees will remain in place, and checkpoints and sobriety checkpoints will continue.
