Gasoline prices rose again in Florida, continuing to put pressure on drivers’ wallets amidst volatility in the international energy market and rising oil prices. On Monday, August 31, the average price of regular gasoline in the state reached $3.87 per gallon, three cents higher than the previous week, according to data released by AAA.
In Miami, the average was even higher: $3.91 per gallon, placing the metropolitan area above the state average. This trend comes as tensions persist in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global crude oil trade, and as the market remains attentive to the potential impact of this situation on global supply.
The AAA report indicated that, although Monday’s price was slightly lower than Sunday’s, when the statewide average had climbed to $3.89, the cost remains significantly higher than a year ago. On this same date in 2025, motorists in Florida were paying an average of $3.06 per gallon, 81 cents less than today.
This difference has a direct impact on daily expenses. Filling a 15-gallon tank now costs around $58.17, while a year ago it cost about $46. The increase, therefore, represents a significant additional burden for thousands of families and workers who rely on their cars daily.
Other fuels are also showing high prices. AAA specified that regular gasoline averages $4.32 per gallon in Florida, premium is at $4.66, and diesel reaches $5.42.
In the southern part of the state, prices remain among the highest. In Miami, regular gasoline averages $3.91 per gallon, about two cents higher than last week, when it hovered around $3.89. AAA noted that this price is approximately four cents higher than the overall Florida average.
The agency also indicated that other fuels maintain high prices in the Miami market. Regular gasoline reaches $4.37, premium sells for $4.61, and diesel reaches $5.44 per gallon.
Other metropolitan areas with particularly high prices include West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, where regular gasoline averages $4.05 per gallon; Gainesville, at $3.95; and Fort Lauderdale, at $3.93. Naples also appears among the most expensive markets, with an average of $3.92 per gallon.
At the other end of the spectrum, the lowest rates are recorded in Panama City ($3.68), Pensacola ($3.69), and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.72). The difference between the most expensive and cheapest areas in the state reaches 37 cents per gallon, which translates to a gap of approximately $5.55 for a 15-gallon tank.
