Miami: Former mansion of singer Juan Gabriel listed for sale at $38.9 million

The former Florida mansion of singer Juan Gabriel has returned to the real estate market with an asking price of $38.9 million. Located in Southwest Ranches, in Broward County, the property belonged to the Mexican singer for years and is now a luxury residential complex featuring sports facilities, gardens, and recreational spaces.

The listing was posted on October 7 by the real estate firm Coldwell Banker. According to N+ Univision, the asking price surpasses the previous record of $22.5 million for another property, which had been among the most expensive listings in the area. As of now, no accepted offer has been publicly reported.

The estate spans approximately 3.9 hectares (9.69 acres) and comprises six separate structures. These include a five-bedroom main residence, a three-bedroom guesthouse, a clubhouse, and facilities dedicated to sports and wellness, according to a description published by Mansion Global.

One of the most striking features is a basketball pavilion measuring approximately 975 square meters. The facility includes a professional-grade sports floor, locker rooms, a viewing balcony, meeting areas, and a smoothie bar. According to real estate information, the space is currently used by a non-profit basketball program.

The complex also boasts two swimming pools—one of which features waterfalls—as well as ornamental ponds, fruit trees, and landscaped walking paths. Additional amenities include a gym, a sauna, a steam room, a massage room, and a clubhouse equipped with a bar and a private cinema.

The property is located in Sunshine Ranches, an area within Southwest Ranches known for its large lots and private residences. Unlike the waterfront mansions that characterize other parts of South Florida, this area offers expansive grounds, allowing for the inclusion of extensive sports and recreational facilities. The estate in Southwest Ranches, Florida, that once belonged to Juan Gabriel includes a five-bedroom main residence, a guesthouse, two swimming pools, and expansive grounds featuring fruit trees.

The current owner, a limited liability company, acquired the property in June 2022 for $9 million, according to real estate records cited by Mansion Global. The current asking price is more than four times that figure, though this difference does not necessarily represent a confirmed profit; the property remains on the market, and the final sale price—should a sale occur—is not yet known.

The property’s history was also marked by a family dispute. Following Juan Gabriel’s death, Joao Aguilera initiated a legal challenge against his brother, Iván, regarding matters related to the estate. The claim was withdrawn in December 2017, according to information reported by N+ Univision.

Juan Gabriel purchased the estate in 1995 and transferred it to one of his sons in 2015, according to public records cited by various media outlets. The artist—whose real name was Alberto Aguilera Valadez—passed away on August 28, 2016, at the age of 66.

Juan Gabriel was one of the most renowned composers and performers in Mexican music. His repertoire includes songs such as “Querida,” “Amor eterno,” and “Hasta que te conocí,” all of which are part of his enduring musical legacy.

In 2009, the Latin Recording Academy honored him as its Person of the Year. The organization highlighted his career, noting that he had sold over 100 million records and composed more than 1,500 songs.

Years after the artist’s passing, his former residence is once again drawing attention—this time for its real estate value. The estate is currently listed for $38.9 million, though the final price will depend on the terms of any potential negotiation and whether a sale is ultimately finalized.
