Entrelibros 2026 Turns Miami into a Hub for Spanish-Language Children’s Literature

In a city where Spanish is part of millions of people’s daily lives, a children’s book can be much more than just a story. It can become a bridge between generations, a way to preserve the language, and a gateway to the imagination.

That is part of the mission of Entrelibros—the International Festival of Children’s Books in Spanish—which returns to Miami from October 14 to 18 for its fourth edition.

Organized by Imago por las artes, the festival will be hosted at the Coral Gables Museum and will bring together 13 independent publishers from Spain and Latin America, as well as writers, educators, and children’s literature specialists.

Over the course of five days, the event will feature storytelling sessions, author meet-and-greets, workshops, art activities, book signings, and school visits. The program also includes the exhibition Cuentos de ciudad (City Tales) and Entrelíneas (Between the Lines), a professional day dedicated to teachers, librarians, and reading advocates. All activities will be free and open to the public.

A major draw for families will be the chance to discover Spanish-language children’s books from various parts of Spain and Latin America, including titles and new releases that can be hard to find in local bookstores.

This year’s edition centers on the theme “The City as a Territory of Encounter, Learning, and Care”—an invitation to view Miami and other cities through stories that tell of how we inhabit them, how we coexist, and how we envision spaces that are more diverse and humane.

This concept will also extend to the Cuentos de ciudad exhibition, which will combine literature and art to explore the different ways children can connect with the environment around them.

Yet, perhaps one of the most significant aspects of Entrelibros unfolds around something as simple as sitting down to read together. In a bilingual community like Miami, sharing a story between a child and an adult can become a moment of family connection and, at the same time, a way to keep Spanish alive across generations.

This concept continues year-round through the Entrelibros Book Club, a monthly gathering that combines Spanish-language storytelling with creative art activities.

On Thursday, October 15, Entrelíneas will expand this conversation to a professional level with an event titled “The City in Children’s Literature: A Territory of Stories, Connection, and Care,” aimed at those who work daily to bring books to children and young people.

Thus, Entrelibros returns to Miami not only as a celebration of children’s literature but also as a space where books serve to bring families together, preserve the language, and connect young children with stories created across the diverse cultures and regions of the Spanish-speaking world.
